singapore lovin'

Yay I'm finally done with my full-time job last week! Geez I've been depriving my social life terribly by confining myself to a 9-6 job all for the sake of money. Sadly though, when my social life is finally heading somewhere, its almost time to go back to school. Arhh I'm starting to get the pre-departure blues; it finally hit me (hard) last Fri when I sat in the chair and counted only ONE more weekend before it'll be another long wait again.

I'm really happy and contented at the moment. Finally got over the sulky, princess-tantrum shit phase that had made me one emo girl for the first 2 weeks . I met up randomly with one of my kindergarten friends 2 weeks ago and I was really surprised on how we hit off even though we never really kept in touch at all throughout our sec/jc years. And in the end, we had such a good dinner that I overstayed for 1.5 hours. It so amazing how we started yakking away in random Japanese like 5 year old kids at Pasta Fresca and how we talked about our goals and aspirations which turned out to be roughly the same..the pursuit of money and the elusive American dream to find a high-paying job at Wall Street when we graduate. I was rather hyper after the meeting to find someone who had similar ideals to me...it was really one of those rare few conversations that i could easily engage in for a long long time. Then it was meeting up with a old time band friend who reminded me of the good o' days when I we used to perform together all those attention-stopping ensembles onstage.

Then it was ballet under the stars again with the old gang of RV kids...minus sy who's happily touring Europe now. I was awoken by a phone call from France one midnight and by intuition I decided to answer it even though i was already half-asleep on my bed and it turned out to be her :D It was fun thinking about all the days when we would rush down to Fort Canning after school to catch BUTS armed with out picnic mat (usually ys's poncho/shower curtain with polka dots) and all the pseudo jap food from MOS burger + sushi and occasionally sparkling juice for the extra romantic oomph. And how we would always take funky shots after the performance, inspired by the SDT dancers, pretending to pose in various positions of plie at the barre. Haha.

And alyn finally got back which called for one of those girly girl reunions. With everyone attached now, outings get increasingly harder to plan now that we have to consider 4+2 schedules. It was a nice good dinner of comfort food and discussions about relationships. Good times, good times. :)

1.5 more weeks of good food, friends, tons of shopping before this holiday ends. Arhh!!

something cute going on in the corner ;)

33 degree celsius and rising

It's been quite awhile since I've been home. Since like the world here hasn't changed much. Aside from the newly revamped NTUC at BTP and Cold Storage at KAP, everything's pretty much the same. The familiar feeling of being nicely nestled in one's comfort zone with the company of good o' friends over Xiao Long Baos, the sweaty armpit feeling after walking from home to the bus stop, and the not-so-missed hot and humid equatorial weather.

For the clueless (which includes many), I'm currently working back as a marketing assistant in the German Chamber, doing my thing, gyming, spa-ing, shopping (what's new) and watching episodes of House on my lappie. I haven't been meeting alot of people so far yet...actually I've only met a few friends so far. Everyone's so busy busy everyday; girls are busy dating and/or doing orientation crap. Boys, still stuck in their sucky army life preparing for NDP. But hey, its okay. I don't want to be some overseas girl novelty having to do rounds on weekend meeting people from my Sec1 to JC class pretending to be Ms. popular who has her appointment fully booked and scheduled that she doesn't have time for herself to breathe and enjoy home. Time seems to be passing by so slowly.....good thing I have work everyday now to keep me going. I used to dread going back to Ithaca, but now all I'm doing is counting down to August.

I miss my life far far away. I miss the days where we would sit by the lake and dip our toes into the freezing cold water. I miss those study break days when you would deliver cheesecake to my doorstep to satisfy my sugar cravings. I miss how you would always brave the cold in shorts and run over to meet me downstairs. I miss the 8am wake-up calls in the morning. I miss going crazy over mushrooms with you and trying to cook them with every dish. I miss our dinner dates at Risley and our favorite table at the corner away from the other kids. I miss the daily walks around North Campus checking out the architectures of the cranky houses. I miss the back rubs when I get stressed from studying and churning out the papers. I miss the wierd 10pm swims in the middle of the night when it was snowing out in the cold. I miss Sundays when you would help me fold my laundry into nice piles. I miss the times when you always towel-dry for me my hair so that I wouldn't fall sick. I miss the occasions when you would wake up at 7am to prepare yummy omelettes for me. I miss the way you would fold my sheets and comforter so nicely because I'm always too busy to do it. I miss our mini-adventures around Ithaca and Cornell looking for spots between the gorges where we have the waterfalls to ourselves.

I think this one of the most personal stuff that I have written in a long while. Probably one of those emo days where I have 1000 things to say but no one to tell. So I guess that's it then...it's just gonna be a long long wait before I see you again.
